Neil Lennon has spoken of his pride after his players continued their quest for an unprecedented quadruple domestic treble, but admits he would’ve been keen to avoid Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
We were made to work for this afternoon’s 1-0 victory away to St Johnstone in a match of very few clear-cut chances in Perth, coming hot on the heels of Thursday night’s crushing Europa League exit at home to Copenhagen.
However, Ryan Christie’s whipped free-kick in the 81st minute was enough to evade the impressive Saints goalie Zander Clark and fire us into the last-four.
Afterwards, the draw for the semi-finals pitted us with old foes Aberdeen, and Lennon claimed he would’ve rather avoided a showdown with Derek McInnes’s side:
